Happy New Year everyone! This past orbital cycle around the sun has really been crazy for everyone I think. Personally it was probably one of if not the worst in my life for me and my family, but I've pulled through, and we'll pull through whatever challenges this next year faces! I'm especially excited for all the discoveries and achievements to be made in the realms of zoology, paleontology and environmental conservation this year!

As for what you can expect from me this year, here are some things to look forward to:
-The completion of my illustrations of all the major living mammal families(as well as some extinct/ancestral families, call it "honorable mentions" perhaps!)
-Illustration of all the major families and orders of living birds. With 10,000 known extant species, this will probably go on through the year.
-Art from BioTopia; the largest and most scientifically advanced zoological park in history where animals living and extinct roam together to give people an understanding and appreciation for the natural world and where research and technology come together to resurrect the past, inspire the present, and preserve the future!
-Art from the Neoterranic Period, 50,000,000 years after the Anthropocene and the extinction of humankind.
-More reconstructions of prehistoric animals as well as depictions of living species.

Whats Going On

2 min read
You may have noticed my drawings recently are not as clear as before. That's because I've been drawing on larger sketchbook paper instead of printer paper, which won't fit inside my printer scanner so I have to take a photo of it. Hopefully soon I'll upgrade from an old iPod touch to an iPhone and my camera will be better quality. Further more you may have noticed I haven't done any paleoart or prehistoric animal reconstructions in a while, nor have I done any drawings for BioTopia or the Neoterranic Period. In case anyone is wonder neither of these projects are dead; I have tons of plans for both of them as well as regular drawings of extinct animals that I usually do. But for now I wanted to broaden my horizons and get more practice with all different kinds of animals. So for the past month I've been doing drawings showing members from all different groups and families of animals in an effort to both get practice drawing all of them and show off all the diversity of animal life. Right now I'm doing the mammals going by biological families or orders and working my way down and through the evolutionary family tree. I will try to finish the order Mammalia before doing a few drawings from BioTopia, the Neoterranic, and general paleoart I want to do, and then I'll decide if I want to tackle the birds and reptiles as well. These drawings will form the bulk of my submissions for at least the next few months, but I know you guys appreciate the creatures we still share this world with just as much as the ones long gone, and I have no intentions of abandoning my other spec evolution projects or paleoart!

I'm getting started in college, I may get a little job soon, and there's some issues going on in my family. Therefore, I will not be able to get as much art on here as I want. I will try and do some art whenever I have free time, but please be patient(as if there are people out there who care). Just so you know, I have no plans on stopping my Biotopia project(I have many big things planned for my dino-park!), and expect to see more colored pieces in the future as well! I also want to get back into my Ark story. AND.... I have something VERY BIG in store! It will be another speculative evolution project, which I admit I have a history of putting out a bunch of hype for and then abandoning it, I'm sorry. But this is BIG! Not DINOSAUR big, in fact it's not about dinosaurs at all. It's something new(for me at least.) SO my friends and followers, be patient, be watchful, and be ready! Thank you!

I went out in the woods today and guess what I GOT TAGGED! Thanks to fishfossil.deviantart.com/
Here be da rules:
1. Post these rules
2. Each Person has to share 13 things about them
3. Answer 13 questions asked to you and invent 13 questions the people you tag have to answer
4. Choose 13 people.(NO!)
5. Go to their page and inform them they were tagged)NO!)
6. Not something like "you are tagged if you read this"
7. You legitimately have to tag 13 people, or don't.(FUCK NO!)
8. You can't say you don't do tags(MAKE ME!)
9. Tag-backs are allowed
10. YOU MUST MAKE A JOURNAL ENTRY NO COMMENTS unless commenting about the actual entry
11. You have to finish this within a week. if not, you'll have to do what the creator asked you to: art, RP, etc. (optional. Totally optional.)
12. Be creative with the title. No "I've got tagged" things
13. Cussing is not allowed(TOO FUCKING BAD, PRINCESS!)

I won't tag anyone since a lot of people have done this shit a million times and are probably tired of it. So here we go.

13 things about me:

1. I start college in a week.
2. I have a clay sculpture of a cross between a camel and a duck(Camelduck) that my friend alexamaye.deviantart.com/ found in the backroom of our art class sitting on my computer desk.
3. I will be taking Camelduck with me to college so he can continue to watch over all my drawings.
4. I have a ball of kneedable eraser that I like sculpt into little dinosaurs. It is currently in the form of a Parasaurolophus.
5. I recently started liking Twenty One Pilots thanks to alexamaye.deviantart.com/ and my other friends from art class.
6. Andy Dwyer and Ron Swanson are my favorite characters from Parks and Rec.
7. I used to volunteer at an exotic animal farm for a year until I quit because I was sick and tired of seeing the animals in small cages with no enrichment and of seeing young tiger and bear cubs being taken away from their mothers and sold off to God knows where.
8. I got a Jurassic World dog tag necklace when I went and saw the movie on opening night.
9. It's also a bottle opener! PARTY-TIME!!!
10. I'm allergic to sushi. If I eat more than 80 pieces I barf.
11. I'm kinda pissed off at Dragon Ball Super because so far it's just re-writing Battle of the Gods.
12. Seriously, FUCK EMPEROR PILAF!
13. I saw the ocean for the first time about two months ago at Myrtle Beach with my family.

Now here are questions from fishfossil.deviantart.com/

1. What is your greatest fear?
Spiders.
2. What prehistoric animal do you feel is overlooked the most in art?
I can't think of an individual species but early therapsids(non-gorgonopsians, dicynodonts, and cynodonts) are pretty overlooked.
3. What's your favorite song?
How Do You Like Me Know? By Toby Keith.
4. What kind of pterosaur is my icon of?
I've seen art of it before but I don't remember it's name.
5. Water, pop, or juice?
Pop. Pepsi specifically.
6. How long does an average drawing, painting, Etcétera, take you?
If it's just pen, 30/40 minutes to an hour or two. If it's colored three hours or so.
7. Do you find it hard to receive criticism?
Not usually.
8. Do you use references, or just start and hope for the best?
If I'm unfamiliar with an animal's appearance and anatomy I use some sort of reference; a fossil, photo or other work of art. Some animals I have done often enough to where I can do it all myself. Though I always have the Wikipedia page of the animal open to glance over so I get everything right. Usually.
9. TV, or YouTube?
Netflix.
10. What's your favorite prehistoric animal?
Triceratops.
11. Do you play any instruments?
Nope.
12. Football, or American Football?
Nope.
13...... I dunno, up or down?
Reverse Cowgirl.

I'm going to try and do more paleoart in color but I have a question: I got a comment on my colored Triceratops that said it was impossible for fur/proto-feathers/bristles to be purple, green or blue and I want to know if that's true. I figure mammalian fur can't be because there aren't any mammals with green, blue or purple fur, but what about the integument of dinosaurs/pterosaurs/other archosaurs? Since bird feathers come in all kinds of colors why would proto-feathers on dinosaurs not be the same way? What kind of evidence is there to support this theory? It just doesn't sound like something we can really know but if anyone has any information on this I would like to see because I wanna actually give my dinosaurs some real color now!
