Modern Dinosaurs of the Savannah 4

    Black Beasts: Named for their presence in native African mythology, as demons of death, black beasts are the largest abelisaurs, reaching 45 feet long and almost 8 tons. The only land carnivores that rival them in size are the North American saber tyrants. These monsters have rough, scaly, jet-black hides and heads encrusted with horns and spikes, giving them a horrifying appearance. They are social, living in mated pairs, and they mate for life. As a team, black beasts are the only animals that can hunt and kill African bush behemoths. Usually they target the young, old or injured, as a healthy full grown, 70 ton adult is far to big and powerful even for them. But still, these predators can sometimes be seen ganging up in large groups to kill healthy adults, and usually the casualties fall on the black beast's side. They will also use their immense size to take down saurolopes and other prey, but would prefer to scare of smaller predators from their meals.
